Sydney 905 Water Filter

The 0.1 micron Sydney 905 Filters far exceeded World Health Organization's (WHO) allowable reduction performance targets for targetted bacteria and other protozoa (See below).


The 0.1 micron Sydney 905 Filters (WHO testing reference 24/1/2020-R3-17) have been stringently tested and evaluated (T&E) under "Round III of the World Health Organization (WHO) International Scheme to Evaluate Household Water Treatment Technologies".  

The testing followed the requirements of the WHO protocol for filtration technologies and the evaluation is based on performance criteria set out in "Evaluating Household Water Treatment Options: Health-based targets and microbiological performance specifications" (WHO, 2011).

WHO allowable reduction target for "Targetted Protection" against bacteria and other protozoa is a reduction of 2 log 10. This equates to a 99.0 % reduction rate of bacteria and other protozoa.  2 log reduction means that the number of potentially harmful microbiological "Colony Forming Units"(CFUs) is 100 times smaller in a particular test area.

The 0.1 micron Sydney 905 Filters obtained and an incredible average 7.1 log 10  reduction in bacteria and other protozoa. This equates to more than a 99.99999 % reduction rate of bacteria and other protozoa. 7 log reduction means that the number of potentially harmful microbiological "Colony Forming Units"(CFUs) is 10 000 000 times smaller in a particular test area.

No chemicals are used and the filtered water will still contain the naturally occurring safe and healthy minerals. They can handle from a gravity feed to a pressurised supply of water. They will fit directly onto a standard 3/4" threaded connection or onto a non-threaded connection via the supplied universal adapter. They can also attach to a bottle.

The filter, if connected to a tap on a bucket, becomes a rural household water treatment system/handwashing station taking good hygiene practices to the household level regardless of the quality (i.e. contaminated or not) of source of raw water supply.
